The United Springfield Academy 2008 Girls team earned their place in Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) history by capturing the U17 Missouri State Cup Championship.
Guided by coaches Anthony Grant and Alex Stein, the team features 16 talented athletes, ages 14 to 17, from schools across the region, including Nixa, Logan-Rogersville, Glendale, Greenwood, Willard, and Central. This impressive group of players formed a powerhouse squad, dominating their competition throughout the tournament.
In a thrilling final match, the USA 2008 Girls team triumphed over Real WC from St. Louis to claim their first-ever State Cup title. This remarkable victory marks the second consecutive year they reached the State Cup final, breaking a long-standing drought for Springfield-area teams. No local girls' soccer team had lifted the trophy in over a decade.
This State Cup victory reflects the relentless dedication of the players, coaches, and parents. Their hard work in preparation, teamwork, and tactical execution was on full display at the highest level of state competition. From set-piece goals to heroic defensive stands, the path to the championship was filled with defining moments that showcased the team's resilience and hunger for success.
